HYTG Receives Compton City Council Award

Compton, CA – June 22nd, 2014  – Members of the board of directors for ‘Help Youth Through Golf’ were delighted to receive a Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor and City Council members; for the groups ongoing efforts over the last three years in providing golf instruction for the kids of Compton, CA.

“We don’t really do our work for awards and recognition, our focus is always on helping the kids become better at golf and become better students in the classroom.” “But, it is good to receive an honor like this from the Compton City Council!” said Luis Baston, Sr, Founder/CEO of HYTG.

Many members of the Compton community were in attendance and offered their congratulations at the short recognition ceremony held before the regular council meeting.

“This certificate of recognition is a great milestone in the three year history of the HYTG organization. It is an award that can be shared by the many community organizations and businesses that continue to support our mission with various monetary and in-kind donations that help make it all possible!” “It’s a great platform in which to build our organization upon for the future!” said Mauricio Ramirez – President of HYTG.

In Recognition Of

HELP YOUTH THROUGH GOLF

WHEREAS, the HELP YOUTH THROUGH GOLF organization had the vision, foresight, and perseverance to start a free junior golf program that continues to provide a framework for introducing the children of Compton to golf; and

WHEREAS, the HELP YOUTH THROUGH GOLF organization has been at the forefront in exposing Compton kids at the elementary, middle, and high school level to golf; and

WHEREAS, Since it’s inception in 2011, the HELP YOUTH THROUGH GOLF organization has donated more than 314 hours of free golf instruction. (157 Saturdays x 2 hours = 314), In addition they have had several tournaments in which the kids had an opportunity to showcase their development for family and friends; and

WHEREAS, the HELP YOUTH THROUGH GOLF has begun the process of coordinating local Compton city, business, community, and private resources to help insure the continuance of said golf programs to the City of Compton. The HYTG Spring 2014 Golf Tournament was an excellent example of city and community resources coming to together to produce a fun and exciting event for the citizens of Compton; and

WHEREAS, the HELP YOUTH THROUGH GOLF organization has helped showcase the fine recreational facilities of the Compton Par 3 Golf course and several parks in the city. HYTG is showing that it is possible to be safe and have fun in the City of Compton.

NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Known, that I, Mayor Aja L. Brown, and the City Council of Compton, California, do hereby recognize and commend all individuals and groups who have contributed to the HELP YOUTH THROUGH GOLF organization. Thank you for making a difference and contributing to a more united and peaceful Compton.
